Meike Aton expresses her inner voices in vibrant, richly textured, large Abstract paintings and Florals.
Inspiration for my art can come from anywhere and anything, nature, colors, ideas, Music, a sunset, a shape, or light playing an unusual game with objects.
While growing up in Germany I was always creating something, using many different materials to fill the need. Creativity was considered part of life and nothing special, just something we do.
After many years busily raising my family in the United States, I returned to the Art World as a Fiber Artist. Picking up fleeces from a sheep farm on shearing day, Alpaca fibers from an Alpaca farm. I spun the fibers into yarn to knit and weave them into home decor and apparel items. Some of the sheep fibers were dyed with plants found on our farm.
Frits van Eeden of Melbourne, Florida, entered my Art World in 2010. He encouraged and mentored my artistic growth, resulting in tropical images, flowers and some abstracts. Other mentors followed from New Mexico, Florida, California, Massachusetts and Missouri.
Katherine Liu Chang encouraged my Abstract path, and it soon became my passion.
Today I teach several different abstract and textural painting workshops out of my Gallery/Studio in Springfield Missouri.
My award winning Art is available in numerous Galleries and businesses in Missouri, Florida and Germany and of course in my Studio & Gallery in Springfield Missouri.
