Lee Jackson

Lee Jackson (1927-2018)

Lee Jackson was an award-winning Missouri artist whose lifelong passion for art was shaped by
extensive travel, study, and visits to museums throughout the United States and abroad. Versatile in
both subject and medium, she worked skillfully in oil, acrylic, watercolor, chalk pastel, and oil pastel,
creating landscapes, still life's, portraiture, and abstract works. Her paintings were selected for
regional and national exhibitions, including Watercolor USA, and received numerous honors,
including Artist of the Year, Purchase Awards, People’s Choice awards, and other juried awards. She
was active in art societies and organizations throughout the Lake of the Ozarks, Springfield,
Branson, Columbia, and Kansas City areas.

After studying art at the University of Missouri and earning her bachelor’s degree in education,
Jackson spent 21 years teaching before retiring to devote herself fully to painting. She continued her
role as an educator through art workshops and instruction, while painting from her Lake of the
Ozarks studio and exhibiting her work throughout the region and nationally. Known for her
remarkable range, from richly painted oils to expressive watercolors and pastels; Jackson approached
art with imagination, curiosity, and an enduring commitment to her craft. Her extensive body of
work reflects a lifetime devoted not only to creating art, but also to sharing it with students, fellow
artists, collectors, and the communities in which she lived and worked.
