Kwaku Addai

Kwaku Addai was born in the small village of Asamang in the Ashanti
region-Ghana, Africa. From a very young age he loved art. When he was
five he expressed this love using chalk and charcoal to draw on walls, doors,
and floors. He studied painting while attending Sr High School in Kumasi,
Ghana. Then, from 2007 – 2010, he had the opportunity to work at the
Center For National Culture in Kumasi for Master Painter, Kwaku Adjei, at
Adjei Fine Art. When Adjei, passed away in 2010, Kwaku inherited the
shop. After acquiring it, he continued to study the work of many different
artists while constantly painting and working on his own style. In addition,
he took part in numerous exhibits and sold his work to people from all over
the world.
On December 13th, 2017, Kwaku arrived in the U.S. as a permanent
resident. In this country his works have been exhibited in Minnesota,
Chicago, Florida, Springfield, and here in Branson. He is always excited for
opportunities to share his love for art and his works.
Kwaku uses both acrylic and oil paints for his captivating works.
Through the use of his brushy technique and bold color choices his
works embrace the essence and emotion of his subjects. While his
paintings usually represent Ghanaian culture in both modern and
traditional settings, he has also added a cross-cultural dimension.
His desire for viewers is that his works would evoke thoughts of inspiration.
And he achieves this by capturing the confidence and strength, while at the
same time the tenderness in the scenes that he paints. In addition, his
thought-provoking titles add to the allure of his works.
