Brent A. Holland of Branson West, MO is a native of Springfield, MO. Holland is a visual artist who integrates digital and traditional media applications into drawings that showcase figurative representation and formal abstraction. Brent dabbles in 3D modeling techniques as a way to further explore his signature perspective rendering style. The four pieces on exhibit at BCC incorporate many layers of acrylic ink, paint, and plexiglass that trick and delight the eye. In general, Brent focuses on the process and psychology of observation while creating. “My work is the accumulation of thousands of moments of looking with layers of multiple visual insights. Forms in cavernous studio spaces and on walls come into sharp focus and dissolve into ethereal impressions.”, says the artist.
Holland is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Visual Culture at Iowa State University where he teaches all levels of painting and drawing. Brent holds a MFA in painting from the University of Washington, Seattle and a BFA in drawing from Missouri State University, Springfield. His work has been exhibited throughout the US and is represented by Olson-Larsen Galleries in West Des Moines, Iowa.
